Healthy, Vegan Smoothie Recipes for the End of Summer
With so many vacations, events, and parties happening, it can be especially difficult to stick to a healthy, vegan lifestyle in the summer. (Not to mention the weekends, when we generally take a break from our routines. That ice cream truck never looked so tempting!)
It’s important to remember, during these times, that it’s certainly okay to cheat every once in a while! But there’s also a good reason why we chose our healthy lifestyles – because it makes us feel physically and mentally better and it helps our bodies function at their absolute best.
Aside from temptations and vacations, summer also means lots of fresh ingredients and delicious produce are right at our fingertips. To keep our bodies healthy and happy, we can take advantage of these bountiful ingredients and treat ourselves to delicious health.
The recipes below are some of our favorite vegan-friendly smoothies that use fresh summer ingredients. Simply pick up these items at your local farmer’s market, toss them in the blender, and enjoy.
Three of our Favorite Summer Smoothie Recipes
1. Green on Green on Green Smoothie
- 1 medium cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 large kale leaves, stems removed
- 1 pear, cored and cut
- 3-4 celery stalks
- Juice of 1 lime
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- 3-4 ice cubes
2. Thick Almond Butter Banana Smoothie
- 2 frozen bananas
- 4 small dates
- 1 heaping tablespoon almond butter
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- ½ cup hemp milk (or your favorite non-dairy milk)
- ¼ cup water
3. Raspberry Walnut Smootie
- ½ frozen banana
- ¼ cup walnuts
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or your favorite non-dairy milk)
- 1 tablespoon cacao nibs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup frozen raspberries
